EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant & Clinical Supervisor

  • EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant / Clinical Supervisor
  • EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner
  • Accredited Member – EMDR Association UK & Ireland
  • Accredited Addictions Practitioner (AP – FDAP)

Richard is an EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant and Clinical Supervisor, as well as an Accredited EMDR Practitioner and Addictions Specialist (AP). His work integrates trauma-focused approaches with deep experience in addiction recovery, mindfulness and community-based mental health.

He trained in Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP) with Devon Ashwood at Action on Addiction’s Centre for Addiction Treatment Studies and has been facilitating MBRP groups since 2013. Richard’s approach combines evidence-based methods with compassion and accessibility, supporting clients to develop sustainable recovery and emotional regulation.

From 2009–2019, Richard worked at The Hepatitis C Trust, supporting communities disproportionately affected by trauma, addiction and limited access to healthcare—including people who inject drugs, those experiencing homelessness and ethnic minority groups. His decade of service reflects his commitment to improving health equality and outcomes for marginalised populations.

Richard’s experience in the Third Sector has included developing, funding and delivering outreach programmes for Hepatitis C clients. Through this work, he has developed a strong understanding of syndemics—the interaction of social and health factors that compound vulnerability—and advocates for inclusive, effective healthcare systems.

He is also a founding member of Trauma Centre UK, a peer-led, patient-centred charity promoting trauma awareness, understanding and education across professional and public sectors. The charity’s mission is to enhance trauma-informed practice and improve outcomes within public services.
